Position Overview

thryve requires an IT Orientated Business/ Systems Analyst to determine and document business requirements with key clients of thryve in Rosebank, Johannesburg.

 

Responsibilities

  • Build up and maintain the business relationship with key clients
  • Facilitate JAD sessions with clients and thryve team members
  • Analyse and document client’s Business Requirements for new functionality and modifications
  • Translate Business Requirements into Functional Requirements
  • Produce key project documents including: Business Requirements Definition, Functional Requirement Specifications, Test Cases, etc.
  • Perform or oversee Internal Acceptance Testing to ensure the Functional and Business Requirements are met.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in IT
  • Business analysis qualification

 

 Experience required

  • Employment/experience in the short term insurance industry for at least one year- preferably commercial lines
  • 3 – 5 years Business and or Systems analysis

Salesforce Developer

 

Position Overview

 

thryve is looking to employ a Salesforce Developer in our Rosebank, Johannesburg office to develop solutions on the Salesforce platform.  A good candidate will be interviewed and tested for aptitude and capability, and will have to be compatible with our Salesforce/Riskonnect team. The candidate will perform a variety of technical project and client service work associated with implementing and servicing the Salesforce and Riskonnect products and services for clients. The candidate requires an integrated skill set consisting of the technologies associated with developing, configuring, customizing and integrating Salesforce and Riskonnect products and services. Knowledge of the Risk and Insurance industry and its business processes would be an advantage, but not a requirement.

 

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Riskonnect product within the company and is a resource in the use and application of solutions developed and configured on Salesforce and Riskonnect.
  • Develops add-on solutions to existing products as well as new standalone products.
  • Provides technical Salesforce and Riskonnect product support to complex clients.
  • Works within a project management environment to ensure on-time completion and profitability of projects.
  • Manages time across multiple projects and client service work to meet client expectations.
  • Constantly advances their knowledge with the Salesforce Developer Certifications to the highest level.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Matric
  • Tertiary qualification related to software development.
  • Five or more years of related experience in information systems development.
  • Working knowledge of database technologies.
  • Understands SQL, triggers and stored procedure concepts. Can create queries, sub-queries and joins.
  • Salesforce/Force.com knowledge and certifications would be an advantage.
  • C# or Java, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Apex(Salesforce) and JavaScript Libraries e.g. jQuery knowledge would be an advantage.

Intermediate Web Application and Database Programmer

 

Position Overview

thryve is looking to employ an Intermediate level Web Application and Database Programmer (Developer) in our Rosebank, Johannesburg branch.  A good candidate will be interviewed and tested for aptitude and capability, and will have to be compatible with our team of developers/analysts. Only sufficiently experienced programmers need apply. Developers primarily support the “thryve Online” insurance management system, which is in place for some brokers, insurance administrators and underwriting management agents. thryve also creates and maintains other web-based software applications and some ancillary software to the main thryve Online system. The candidate will be expected to deal with client’s directly on occasion in order reach issue resolution and/or to achieve user acceptance of completed tasks. This position entails doing web programming, database programming, documentation and high level support.

 

Qualifications

  • Required: Tertiary programming qualification (B.Sc., National Diploma, MCSD, etc.)

 

Experience

  • Required: 3-4 years of working experience programming web applications
  • Required: 3-4 years of working experience with T-SQL (MS SQL) or similar

What is it like to work at thryve?

Candidates will be joining a small, highly dynamic team of four people (including the development manager), working closely together on parallel tasks and handing tasks over between each other often. As a small company, projects can be short and varied, covering different business areas each month. The working environment is quiet, with a focus on efficiency over “red tape”, but using appropriate tools to improve quality, development speed and traceability.
New candidates are coached by seniors during the first couple of weeks and their scope of work will increase after proven capacity.

thryve uses the ManageEngine ServiceDesk ticket management system for work tracking and reporting, Subversion version control system, VB.Net as primary language for ASP.Net development. A standard suite of software is provided to developers, including Microsoft Visual Studio, SQL Server (and associated BI tools). Developer workstation computers are equipped with two monitors.

We use the PMBOK project management methodology for larger projects and a database driven (stored procedures, views and functions to define business logic) development plan.

thryve looks out for Business Intelligence developers to design and maintain existing SQL Server Reporting Services reports, Crystal Report and to draw ad-hoc data extracts from production databases in support of its clients requirements. thryve Business Intelligence developers work closely with the client and the system architects to understand the requirements for business intelligence, map the requirements to the system database design and then to produce the reports to provide business intelligence to the client.
